From the black neighborhoods and institutions emerged civic and political leaders. The journey of African-Americans in Charlotte and Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, is remarkable for its legacy of triumph over adversity, tenacity amid trials, and joy for life even as "second-class citizens." The history and the background descriptions were beautifully written and woven in to an engrossing story of love, loss and betrayal but the heart of the story - the people - didn't keep up with their surroundings. Structural Functions in Music is an excellent source of ideas for any composer, performer, or student. It is easy to understand and gives you all the information you need from each set of verses. Each topic is quickly covered, but there are a lot of valuable points made by the contributing authors.My favorite chapter, 6, covers best practices in technology management. This chapter covers everything from vendor evaluation and selection to relationship management. Their layout is pretty cool, with the links to a previous exercise if the one you are doing is to hard. She describes how your sex life should include enough variety to keep both partners excited - and then provides some ideas about what "variety" might look like for you.
