Billboards of the Past

The informative text provides useful instructions on assembling, displaying, and safely storing vintage billboards. This is a treasure trove of American advertising gathered from actual billboards that were carefully stored in their boxes for several decades, before being assembled and photographed for this book. Billboard ads for everything from appliances to tractors and beer to war bonds are displayed. Among the ads, you will see Jack Benny and Betty Grable selling Mercury automobiles, Arthur Godfrey and Joe Dimaggio hawking Chesterfield cigarettes, and Edgar Bergen, Charley McCarthy, and Santa Claus promoting Coca Cola. The artwork of many recognized lithographic artists is captured here, including the work of Howard Scott, Morice Logan, Jerome Razen, Stu Graves, and even Charles Schultz of Peanuts*R comic strip fame. Values are provided in the captions.. Take a trip through time, along the highways of yesteryear, as you view striking billboard ads from 1945 through 1967, captured here in over 450 beautiful color photos

The back cover even recommends the book to business econometricians also (whatever that may be). I've since re-read it several times, loving it each time. Some of their friends in Government jobs did suffer job loss during the McCarthy years, but because Edwin and John were in business for themselves, they were immune to this kind of homophobia. So for me, the book was fairly interesting and informative - but overall it's pretty dry and tends to drag in places. Another example is that he claims that service to others is good and service to self is bad, but service to self (given a free country) provides the most service to others. The narrator is fascinated with a girl who is convinced she is turning into a scarecrow. He claims we are all one, which supports the New World Order goal of global government. The reader is also taken on a trip to see what the author thinks is likely to follow in the next three decades. Recently, the final chronicles have been released, and though the original trilogy is no longer in print, it can be found in kindl
